Liske ging in het timmerbedrijf van zijn vader aan de slag en werd daar een goed vakman. In 1906 verhuisde Liske met vrouw en kind naar Amsterdam. Daar bracht hij het al snel tot uitvoerder bij Aannemingsmaatschappij J. Rozestraten. Hij bouwde woonblokken in Amsterdam-Zuid, een flatgebouw in Amsterdam-West, villa's in Amstelveen en uiteindelijk de woonwijk Linnaeushof in Amsterdam-Watergraafsmeer, ontworpen door architect Kropholler. Tijdens de bouw van de kerk werd het formeel geplaatst voor de triomfboog. Bij het optakelen van het gevaarte schoot een tui van de stelling los waardoor deze kantelde. De kantelende stelling raakte Liske in de rug die daardoor zo gekneusd werd dat hij twee dagen later in het ziekenhuis overleed, drie weken voor zijn zilveren bruiloft.
