Hij was hier lid van de gelders-overijsselse Studentenvereniging en naast zijn wapen stond: "nune reipublicae Neomagensis consul" en "Reliquit nobilissimo Geldrorum collegio hec sua insignia Wilhelmus ab Hoeckelum 4 augusti anno 1619" en "juris utriusque doctor", als wapenspreuk koos hij "Omnia serio". Hij was later burgemeester van Nijmegen gecommiteerde der Staten Generaal en ter Admiraliteit op de Maas, tevens Hopman der Burgerij te Nijmegen. WAPEN :In zilver drie zwarte rechterschuinbalken, zwart-zilveren wrong, helmt. : een goudgesnavelde en gepootte zwarte vogel met opgeheven vlucht. In het Frans: d'argent a trois bandes de sable.(het zelfde als de Beyer, maar met een ander Helmteken).
