John Irish Jr. was a carpenter by trade, and lived at Duxbury, MA., then moving to Little Compton, Rhode Island in about 1673. As a youth he was listed as a servant to Captian Miles Standish and was mentioned in the Standish will. He was appointed as Constable of Little Compton on 7-5-1678, with the oath of office being administered by Captian Benjamin Church. He was a surveyor of highways in Little Compton in 1683. John is buried on the old Irish farm located across the road from the Friends Meeting House near Little Compton, Rhode Island.
