Over Haesje Vervel wordt niets meer vernomen, maar van Francijntje Manasse gaat in
1654 het gerucht “dat se een kint sou hebben in
hoererije”. Zij weigert om voor de kerkenraad
te verschiinen, maar in februari 1655 vraaEt
haar moeder of enkele afgevaardigden haar wiïlen vergezellen naar “een seecker huijs”, om
daar met haar dochter te spreken. Het meisje
bekent onder tranen haar “oncuijsheijt”, maar
beweert met nadruk dat ze van niemand anders
zwanger was geworden, dan van een kuiperszoon uit Rotterdam, die officieel met haar was
verloofd. Tot haar grote droefheid was hij echter in de Engelse Oorlog8
gesneuveld.
