MARY SAVAGE, married (as his 1st wife) WILLIAM STANLEY, Esq., of Hooton (in Wirral) and Storeton, Cheshire, and Stanley, Staffordshire, Sheriff of Cheshire, son and heir of William Stanley, Knt., of Hooton (in Wirral) and Storeton, Cheshire, and Stanley, Staffordshire by his 2nd wife, Blanche, daughter of John Arderne, Knt. He was born about 1405 (aged 23 in 1428). They had four sons, William, Esq., John, Richard, and Thomas. In 1424 his widowed mother, Blanche, released her rights to the manor of Stanley, Staffordshire and lands in Chorlton and Le Moels (both in Wirral), Cheshire to him. He was heir in 1428 to his grandfather, William Stanley, Knt. In 1432 he granted lands in Pulton Launcelyn, Bromburgh and le Spitall to Edward de Hoghton and others. In 1434 Richard Coly of Chester granted him lands in Pennesby and Thingwall. In 1437 king ordered the constable of Windsor Castle to take William Stanley, his brother-in-law, John Savage, Knt., Randolph Brereton, and Urian Brereton into custody for an unspecified offence. In 1439 Richard Bolde was appointed the marriage of Richard Donne, the king's ward, by mainprise of William Stanley, of Hooton, Cheshire, Esq., and another. He was granted a pardon by the king in 1446.

' 11. WILLIAM STANLEY, Esq., of Hooton (in Wirral), and Storeton, Cheshire, Stanley, Staffordshire, etc., son and heir, born say 1425. He married ALICE HOGHTON (or HOUGHTON), daughter of Richard Hoghton, Knt., of Hoghton (in Leyland), Lancashire, by his wife, Margaret. They had one son William, Knt., and one daughter Isabel (wife of John Marchumley). In 1450 he fought for the king against the traitor, Jack Cade, of Kent. In 1454 John Hertcombe granted authority to John Savage the younger, William Stanley esquires, and Thomas Kendale to cause a deed to be made in his name regarding the castle, lordship and manor of Mold, Flintshire. In 1460 he was pardoned L166 in arrears as late receiver of Richard, Duke of York, of the lordship of Denbigh in Wales. In 1462 he and others were appointed to take muster of Roland Fitz Eustace, Knt., and 300 archers at some convenient place near Chester. WILLIAM STANLEY, Esq., died 17 Feb 1466. His wife, Alice, was living 11 March 1465/6.
12. WILLIAM STANLEY, Knt., of Hooton (in Wirral), Roveacre, and Storeton, Cheshire, and Stanley, Staffordshire, son and heir, born about 1445. He married (1st) MARGARET BROMLEY, daughter and co-heiress of John Bromley, Knt., of Badington (in Acton), Cheshire, by Joan, daughter and co-heiress of William Hexstall, Knt. They had one daughter, Margery. His wife, Margaret, died in 1469. He married (2nd) in 1470 AGNES GROSVENOR, daughter and co-heiress of Robert Grosvenor, Esq., of Holme, Cheshire, by Joan, daughter of Lawrence Fitton, Knt. They had a son, William, Knt. William was knighted about 1484. He was an executor c.1492 of the will of Mr. Henry Medwall, master of St. Giles. SIR WILLIAM STANLEY died in 1512. His widow, Agnes, died in 1520-1.
