Sveyn
Gender:
Male
Birth:
before 870
Ukendt / Unknown
Immediate Family:
Father of Knut den harde
Sveyn, probably a chieftain of Vikings in the 800s.
Sveyn is mentioned as father of Knud den Harde in Saxo's chronicle of Denmark, as well as in Roskilde Chronicle and Adam of Bremen. Who he is otherwise is not known beside that he is the father of Knut den Harde. What they say is that Knut den Harde came from Nortmanie (Normandy or Norway).

A translated text has before stated Knut as son of Sigurd "worm in Eye" Ragnarsson. This is not very likely since it fits poorly Chronologically. New thought think that maybee it should not be translated as son, but more as descendent of Sigurd.. This fits a lot better, However it is impossible to say how many generations we are talking about and even if it is thrue. Therefore it whould not be fitting at the moment to connet Sigurd "worm in eye" with Sveyn or Knut den Harde.
