Died on the Morning of the 17th ult. after a very sudden and violent illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Trueheart wife of Mr. B. Trueheart , of Powhatan , daughter of Gen. L. Mosby and the grand-daughter of the late Gen. Charles Scott , of Kentucky . Enq. Dec. 14, 1816 .

Departed this life on the 1st inst, at his residence in Powhatan , and in the 64th year of his age, Gen. Littlebury Mosby . This gentleman volunteered when very young in the military service of his country, and was during our revolutionary war, in several campaigns in the southern states. He was a Lieutenant in the Continental line in that desperate engagement in Oct, 1779 , usually called the Siege of Savannah , by the combined French and American forces, and was subsequently with Gen. Lincoln at the capitulation of Charleston . Having remained some time a prisoner of war, he resigned his commission, which was then that of a captain, and returned to his native state. General Mosby afterwards, at the request of the Governor of Virginia , raised a volunteer troop of cavalry to aid in opposing the invasion of Phillips and Arnold ; and with that troop rendered such essential service, that he received for himself and company the thanks of the executive. On account of his military services he was some time subsequently to the revolution appointed Colonel of the Militia of Powhatan ; and finally in 1802 , was promoted by the Legislature to the command of the 4th brigade of the militia in the state-which station he held until, the end of the last conflict with Great Britain . This gentleman in civil life, acted for many years as a vigilant magistrate of his county, and represented it several times in the House of Delegates. As a friend he was sincere without much profession; he was hospitable according to the good old Virginia mode, without any ostentation or parade about it. He was affectionate and kind in all his domestic relations, as father, husband, and brother-and a humane master. The writer of this small tribute of respect to his memory is well aware of the fashion nowadays to eulogize extravagantly the characters of departed friends: he thinks the practice much to be regretted; and therefore in what he now says has obstained from anything more than the simple truth. To speak that on such an occasion he considers due to one who was, when living, his firm friend; and by whose efforts, combined with those of all the other heroes and patriots of the Revolution, he enjoys the inestimable blessing, under a kind Providence, of living in a free country protected by a mild and independent government. Enq. Oct. 26, 1821 .

Died on Thursday the 14th ult. after a short but severe attack of Hydrothrax, which he bore with manly fortitude, Doctor Edward Mosby of Louisa Co. aged 27. Enq. Mar. 5, 1822 .

Died-at his residence in Hanover Co. on Saturday night the 31st inst, Samuel Mosby in the 62nd year of his age; for several years past his health had been bad, and altho he suffered great bodily pain, not a sentiment of discontent escaped his lips. He was for many years a member of the Episcopal Church, which he adorned by his exemplary life. He has left an affectionate wife and nine children to lament a loss to them irreparable; they may console themselves however with the reflection that he has made a happy exchange in quitting a world of trouble, for one of eternal happiness." Enq. Feb. 12, 1829 .

Died-On Monday the 21st inst. at Johnson 's Springs Goochland , Mr. Wm. O. Mosby , in the 28th year of his age. A mild and amiable gentleman, he has left a large circle of friends and relations, whose only consolation for his loss, is the firm hope which he expressed of entering into a happier existence, after his passage from time to eternity. An affectionate widow and two helpless infants are left to deplore his irreparable loss." Enq. Nov. 9, 1830 .

"Died-on the 29th of May , at Mrs. Mary Mosby 's after a short illness of six days, Mrs. Jane P. Mosby , relict of Wm. O. Mosby , decd. and daughter of Captain Philip Woodson , of the County of Hanover . The friends of the deceased are not left without hope in her death. Two days before she died, she expressed her love to the Saviour, and said, notwithstanding she had so long abused his mercy, and resisted the strivings of the Holy Spirit yet the blessed Jesus had still pursued her, and had, at last, filled her soul with love, and joy, and peace, in believing. The second night before her death, she rejoiced nearly the whole night and would frequently break out in hymns of praise to her blessed Saviour. She spoke much of the emptiness and vanity of earthly things, and said her only trust was in the Lord Jesus. Enq. June 9, 1835 .

"Died, on the 20th inst. at Mr. J. H. Lynch 's, in this City, Mr. Robert Mosby , son of Gen. Littleberry Mosby of Powhatan , and for upwards of twenty years a resident of this City; a part of which time, he was favorably known as the junior partner and conductor of the Richmond Compiler, where he secured for himself the warm regard of many friends. He has left a widow and one child to lament the loss of a husband and father. His funeral will take place at the residence of Mr. Lynch , this morning at 11 o'clock. The friends of the family and the deceased are requested to attend, without further invitation." Enq. Mar. 21, 1839 .
