Notes about Catherine Stewart, Countess of Morton

Catherine was an illegitimate daughter of King James IV of Scotland, by his mistress Margaret Boyd.

She married James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Morton, on some date before 10 Dec 1507. History records that the Earl, excused military service for poor health, was persecuted by James V notwithstanding being married to the king's half-sister.

They had 3 daughters

Margaret, wife of James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran
Beatrice, wife of Robert Maxwell, 6th Lord Maxwell
Elizabeth, wife of another James Douglas, 2nd son of Sir George Douglas of Pittendreich by his wife Isabel, daughter of David Douglas. This James became the 4th Earl, somehow.

Catherine was alive in 1543 but died before her husband, who was dead by 1550.
