Deborah is not mentioned in any of the stories about the massacre in 1644. Some people have speculated that Sarah was pregnant at that time and that Deborah was born after her father's death in 1644.

LifeSketch: There is no known will for Dr. John Woodson, killed in 1644, but there is a recorded verbal will and inventory for Sarah Winston Woodson that made bequeaths to John Woodson, Robert Woodson, Deborah Woodson, Elizabeth Dunwell. The relationships to Deborah and Elizabeth are not known; they may have been daughters or granddaughters. If the DOB for Sarah is anywhere near correct, Elizabeth Dunwell could not have been her daughter; she would have been a step-daughter or a granddaughter by her second husband9;s previous marriage. Deborah Woodson was an unknown prior to the discovery of Sarah Woodson's will and she was never mentioned in the tale of the Indian attack or any deed records still in existence. It is likely that she was a granddaughter that was not named in the will of her father, which was not unusual when wills generally passed on lands to sons.
