The following obituary was printed on the front page of the McKeesport Daily News on 21 Jan, 1916:

"MRS. MARY PARKER SUMMONED BY DEATH«/u» - Well Known Resident of Ninth Ward Passes Away Today

"After a lengthy illness, Mrs. Mary Lavina Parker, widow of David M. Parker, and one of the best known residents of the Ninth ward, died at 1:40 o'clock this afternoon at the family residence, 796 Abraham street. Her death was caused by a complication of ailments.

"Mrs. Parker was in her sixty-seventh year. She was born at Roaring Springs, PA., being a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Manning. She came to this city, following her brothers, shortly after her marriage to David M. Parker, and had resided here ever since Mr. Parker died 21 years ago.

"Mrs. Parker had been in ill-health for several years, but the illness did not become serious until three months ago. During all this time she assumed the burden with true Christian fortitude.

"She was one of the first members of the Beulah Park M. E church and was very active in its affairs. Until prevented by ill-health she was one of the most aggressive members of the Ladies' Aid society of that church and because of her lengthy residence in the Ninth ward she was known to practically every resident of that district.

"Mrs. Parker is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Conrad Raymer and Mrs. John Long, both of this city, and Mrs. John W. Nelson, of Youngstown, O, and also by two sons, David M. and William S., both of this city. Five brothers also survive, they being George, Thaddeus and Henry Manning of this city; James B., of Hopewell, PA., and John W., of Cleveland, O., also three sisters, Lila and Nettie Manning of this city and Mrs. Alex Kelly of Youngstown. Twenty-four grandchildren and one great grandchild survive.

"The funeral arrangements will be announced later."
