Notes about Thomas Charles White

In 1913 Henry Mitford Barber, grandson of Miles Bowker, who assumed the name Mitford-Barberton, transferred Tharfield to Alfred White, wo had married into the Bowker family . In due course Alfred White transferred the estate (1925) to Thomas Guard Webb. The transaction was not a straight sale, but an exchange of Tharfield for Burnt Kraal, in the Grahamstown area, with a cash adjustment. So, after just over a century, Tharfield passed out of the hands of the Bowker family--------------
