Notes about Patricus Williamszn DAVIDSON
Er is vrij veel over hem bekend, hij heeft interessante voorouders, en er is van hem een boek uit 1709 bewaard gebleven met aantekeningen over zijn voorouders. Onder zijn voorouders zitten enkele oude Schotse (adellijke) geslachten.
Hij woont achtereenvolgens in Fort Moerspuy te Axel Ambacht (ca 1670), Breda (1672-1680, mogelijk aan de Haagdijk met zijn ouders), en vertrekt in februari 1680 met zijn gezin naar garnizoensstad Emden. Hij (of zijn vrouw) bezat ook een huis en grond in Rheden, dat in 1680 werd verkocht.
Patricius Davidson heeft een folio boek van 298 bladzijden nagelaten, bijna geheel gevuld met wiskundige vraagstukken en krijgskundige onderwerpen. Op enkele bladzijden waren aantekeningen gemaakt omtrent de familie Davidson en aanverwante families.
"Ik, Patricus Davidsone, geboren in de stad Graaf den 3 April 1644 en Gijsbarta van Arnhem geboren in het Rheden 2 Februarij 1644 zijn door Gods genaden in de Echte houwelijke Staat ingezegent tot Westervoort op biddag den 11 Aug. 1669. Mijn vrouws groot vader is de eerste uit het geslagt van Arnhem geboren, genoemd Sicamber van Arnhem, Scholt over het amt Rheden en mijn vrouwe vader Zeger van Arnhem is in zijn leven eveneens geweest Scholt over het amt Rheden."
