Hij heeft als kind een ongeluk gehad, waarbij de hand verkeerd is gezet en verminkt.

Hij is overleden op 9 januari 1946 in Midwoud, hij was toen 45 jaar oud. Was gedurende Wereldoorlog II (1940-1945) geëvacueerd naar Midwoud en woonde daar tijdelijk in de (oude) Hervormde Pastorie. Mocht na de bevrijding nog niet terugkeren naar Den Helder.

Woonachtig: op 21 maart 1927 in Joh. Camphuisstraat 187 te Den Haag. Is later weer teruggekeerd naar Den Helder en woonde toen in de Brouwerstraat 47.

Hij is begraven in Midwoud, (grafsteen nog aanwezig).
