Notes about Filips Lodewijk van de Palts-Neuburg

Son of Wolfgang van Palts-Zweibrücken-Neuburg and Anna van Hessen. After his fathers death in 1569 he inherited the title of Count of Palts-Neuburg and his brother Johan was proclaimed Count of Palts-Zweibrücken.

He married Anna van Kleef (1552-1632) daughter of Willem V van Kleef, and it was this marriage that brought him into the Gulikberg conflict of succession rights.

The fact that his son Wolfgang Willem became catholic grieved him, and he wanted to disinherit his son but died before the necessary measures had been taken.

From his marriage with Anna van Kleef 8 children were born.
