Notes about Jansje Liberg

Het verhaal bij de Steen.
Deze steen vertelt het buitengewoon tragische verhaal van Jansje Liberg en haar 2e kindje, Neeltje.
Jansje was de jongste dochter van Mangnus (of Magnus) Liberg, de stamvader van Liberg van Terschelling.
Op de vroege ochtend van 26 juni 1861 beviel Jansje van haar 2e dochter Neeltje die na 10 minuten overleed.
Wat er zich heeft afgespeeld weten we niet, maar om 1 uur s‘middags liet Jansje het leven. Haar man Cornelis Oepkes was niet aanwezig, hij was koopvaardij kapitein en heeft mogelijk (veel) later gehoord dat hij zijn vrouw en kind verloren had.
Hun dochter Neeltje is wel aangegeven dus ik ga er vanuit dat ze niet levenloos geboren was.
Deze gebeurtenissen zullen beslist een rol hebben gespeeld bij de keuze van het zeer opvallende opschrift op deze steen.
