Hij werd 19 Sept. 1741 student in de rechten te Harderwijk, daarna beschreven in de ridderschap van Zutphen, president van gedeputeerden uit dat quartier, ordin. raad in het Hof van Gelderland, scholtus binnen en buiten Zutphen, burgemeester van Doetinchem, landrentmeestergeneraal van Gelderland, gecommitteerde ter Staten-Generaal, gecommitteerde ter beneficieering van den Neder-Rijn en den Geld. IJsel en van 8 Aug. 1758 tot zijn dood wegens het quartier van Zutphen curator der hoogeschool te Harderwijk.
