Na de dood van zijn vrouw werd hij onderinstituteur aan het instituut der Maatschappij van Weldadigheid te Wateren. Hij hertrouwde met Anna Sophia Leuringh uit Nieuwolda. Tenslotte keerde hij naar Texel terug en werd strandvonder in De Koog. Uit beide huwelijken zijn nog afstammelingen op Texel in leven.
