Notes about Joachimus "Jochem" SEIJKENS

In Deurne wordt op 15 december 1861 Joachimus Seijkens geboren, als zoon van Martinus Seijkens (landbouwer) en Hendrina Kuunders (landbouweresse).
Volgens het bevolkingsregister woont hij van 4 juni 1873 tot 2 maart 1876 bij Antonius Sauvé, een akkerbouwer te Vlierden.
Als Joachimus 23 jaar oud is, huwt hij op 2 mei 1885 met Catharina Hurkmans. Zij is geboren op 18 november 1861 als dochter van Andries Hurkmans (arbeider) en Francien van Lieshout (spinster).
Na hun huwelijk wonen Joachimus Seijkens en Catharina Hurkmans in Deurne. In het buurtschap Kleine Bottel is Joachimus landbouwer Hier worden 7 kinderen geboren, waarvan er 2 op jonge leeftijd weer overlijden. Zij besluiten om zich in Helmond te gaan vestigen. De verhuizing vindt plaats op 20 maart 1896. Met Joachimus en Catharina verhuizen natuurlijk ook hun 5 kinderen mee. Het gezin vestigt zich in wijk F aan de oostzijde van Helmond. Het eerste adres is Buiten Parallelweg 70. Latere adressen (tot 1913) zijn Geremt 104, 105, 162 en 196.
Catharina Hurkmans overlijdt in het kraambed in Helmond op 2 maart 1903. In de periode dat zij in Helmond woont heeft zij nog drie kinderen gekregen.

Na het overlijden van Catharina Hurkmans hertrouwt Joachimus Seijkens met Henrica Maria van den Elsen. Henrica is geboren op 29 oktober 1875 in Beek en Donk en komt op 17 september 1904 vanuit Lieshout naar Helmond. Ze werkt als dienstmeid bij de landbouwersfamilie van der Heyden op het Laagveld in Helmond. Het huwelijk tussen Joachimus Seijkens en Henrica Maria van den Elsen vindt op 19 oktober 1904 te Helmond plaats. Henrica heeft een dochtertje van één jaar. In de huwelijksakte van Joachimus en Henrica staat hierover: “De bruidegom en bruid verklaarden te erkennen een kind uit hen geboren te Lieshout den vierden mei negentien honderd en drie en in de geboorteregisters van dat jaar ingeschreven onder de voornamen Helena Maria, melding daarvan vorderende op de kant der geboorte-akte”.
Deze passage is in de huwelijksakte doorgestreept en derhalve niet geldig. Op het eind van de akte staat: “De doorhaling van twee en veertig woorden in deze akte is goedgekeurd”. Volgens de geboorteakte heet het kind echter Leonora Maria (BS Lieshout geboorteaktes 1903, nr. 12). Deze naam staat ook in het bevolkingsregister (Helmond 1900-1913, deel 11, blz. 75), waarbij is vermeld dat Leonora Maria niet verwant is met Joachimus Seijkens.

In Helmond worden in de daarop volgende jaren nog diverse kinderen van Joachimus en Henrica geboren. Op het moment dat Joachimus Seijkens met zijn gezin naar Helmond komt staat als beroep geregistreerd: arbeider. Later staat hij in het bevolkingsregister als voerman en opperman vermeld.

Tussen 1913 en 1925 verhuist het gezin van Geremt 196 naar het adres Deurneseweg 61. Hier woont Joachimus Seijkens nog als hij op 8 oktober 1939 overlijdt.
