Door het beroep werd heel wat afgereisd, waardoor de kinderen in verband met studie soms elders werden ondergebracht. De dochter Sonja werd in de rimboe geboren met nauwelijks medische assistentie, laat staan goede hygiëne.

Notes about Cornelis (Cees) van der Burg

Cees v.d.Burg volgde in Amsterdam de MTS (de latere HTS), de suikerschool, chemie en werktuigbouw. Kwam te werken bij de PTT. Hij werd uitgezonden naar Indië werd Hoofd PTT en na de oorlog zette hij een project op in Nieuw Guinea, teneinde de telecommunicatie in Hollandia van de grond te krijgen. Cees v.d.Burg werd onderscheiden met "Ridder in de orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw" voor datgene wat hij had ontwikkeld in Nieuw Guinea.
Eenmaal met pensioen werd hij begin 1961 gevraagd voor de Binnenlandse Veiligheidsdienst te komen werken voor 5 jaar, hetgeen voor hem een zeer interessante tijd moet zijn geweest. Hij kon en mocht over zijn wederwaardigheden niet praten.
Cees (Oom Cees) heeft zijn levenservaringen opgeschreven, deze zijn in het bezit van zijn kinderen.
