Leendert Tijsse Boer – de stamvader van de Nederlofs – gebruikte voor het eerst de naam Nederlof bij zijn aanstelling als ouderling van de Hervormde kerk.Dat was in 1696. Daarna zie je dat in sommige akten de naam Boer wordt doorgestreept en wordt veranderd in Nederlof. Al vanaf 1704 werd door de afstammelingen van Leendert Tijszn de naam Nederlof gebruikt.Ook hijzelf wordt steeds als Nederlof vermeld, hoewel in diverse akten nog de naam Boer of Leendert Tijszn Stadhouder geschreven werd.”(uit: : “Het geslacht Nederlof”- K.Blokland en J.D.
