Household of John Henry (Henry) Elfrink

Notes about John Henry (Henry) Elfrink

At the time of the 1920 census, Henry Elfrink was living in the household of his son-in-law, Joe Thele, in Bollinger County, MO. Members of the household were: Joe Thele: 30 years of age; born in Missouri; Mena Thele: 36 years of age; born in Missouri; Jane F. Thele: 7 years of age; born in Missouri; Henry J. Thele: 4 years of age; born in Missouri; Frances L. Thele: 8 months; born in Missouri; Henry Elfrink: 69 years of age; born in Germany; John Elfrink: 30 years of age; born in Missouri; In the death certificate, it is noted that Henry died at home. It was probably this home, that of his son-in-law, Joe Thele. The 'Minnie' noted in the 1910 census is almost certainly the 'Mena Thele' noted in the 1920 census.

Obituary of John Henry Elfrink

‘Uncle Henry’ Elfrank, brother of George Elfrank (Elfrink) of Leopold, who lives near Lutesville, was found dead in the stable on his farm last Friday about 11 o’clock in the morning. Joe Taylor (Thele), who, with his family, lives on the farm with Mr. Elfrank made a trip to Lutesville Friday morning and left Mr. Elfrank alone and he was going to turn out the horses and feed the hog, and when they returned they found that he got sick and sat down on a sill in the barn to rest and fell over dead. There was some bran on one of his hands that would suggest that he was mixing feed for the hogs. Mr. Elfrank was about 70 years of age.
