De tekst op zijn bidprentje; God had André getekend met eerlijkheid en vroomheid, met dankbare vriendelijkheid en een grote liefde. Liefde voor zijn werk en voor de mensen. maar vooral voor zijn vrouw, zijn kinderen en kleinkinderen. Hij genoot van de rust der vorderende jaren, voelde zich zo goed, na een vermaning, en maakte nog allerlei plannen.
Op vrijdagmorgen hield hij zijn pasen, om op zaterdagmorgen door de heer plots genodigd te worden tot de eeuwige paasvreugde in de hemel.
Mijn vrouw, groot zal uw verdriet zijn, maar lijk wij samen tijdens ons leven vreugde en verdriet moedig hebben gedragen... uw genegenheid was een schoon teken van dankbaarheid aan uw ouders; helpt ma nu verder, vooral in eenzame momenten.
Mijn familie en vrienden, dank om uw goedheid en vele attenties, schenk mij nu de blijvende steun van een gebed.
André was landbouwer en woonde bij zijn huwelijk te Sas van Gent en vestigde zich in Assenede.
