      Enlisted in Culpepper County, Virginia, and served from June, 1777 until 1780 as a sergeant under Captains John Tutt and James Tutt in the Virginia militia under Colonel Slaughter. Soldier was born in Culpepper County, Virginia, in 1755 and resided there until 1800 when he removed to Nicholas County, Virginia. Hew was residing there in 1834.
