HEADLINE: LOCAL COUPLE OWNS TALKATIVE PARAKEET.

CAPTION: Pretty Boy's A Talker - A 6-year-old parakeet owned by Mr. and

Mrs. George Reynolds, 1081 Georgia Road, can say well over 120 words and
phrases. The bird becomes so talkative sometimes at night his cage has to
be covered to muffle the sound.
ARTICLE: Pretty Boy, a 6-year-old parakeet that is the pet of Mr. and
Mrs. George C. Reynolds, is a motor mouth.
The bird has a vocabulary of well over 120 words and phrases,
practically all of which the Reynolds have recorded on their tape
recorder.
The bird originally was owned by Mrs. Reynolds' father, Kelsey Butler.
During the year Pretty Boy was with Mr. Butler, he learned over 100 words.
Pretty boy is quite adept at picking up new words and phrases and
never ceases to amaze his owners by repeating some phrase or word he has
acquired just by listening to their everyday conversation with each other
and friends and neighbors.
Among the phrases that he has learned are: "I'm Tricky Dick and I got
tapes, Cinn Reds Big Red Machine, what's up Doc, let's go to Whisler (and
other towns), let's go to Pumpkin Show, Brenda; let's go squirrel hunting,
George; Pretty Boy lives at 1081 Georgia Road, Peter Piper picked a
pepper, give me a bite of bread, George; I'm daddy pet, Merry Xmas - Happy
Year, don't you bite me, I love you Kelsey Butler, I'm a Buckeye."
Mr. Reynolds is an employe of Owens-Illinois and has been with the
company 35 years. Formerly from Charleston, W. Va., they moved here when
the local )-I plant opened.
He is an avid hunter and fisherman although he is still recuperatinjg
from open heart surgery performed on him at Cleveland Clinic last spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds have one daughter, Georganna, who lives at Bay
City, Mich.; two sons, Arthur Wiley, Wisler and bill Wiley, Glendenning,
W. Va.
