Wietse BOTES. Hy was gebore 1712. Wietse het uit Enkhuizen, Holland met sy vrouAnna(Antje) PIETERSE en drie kinders in 1744 op die skip Ruyter aangekom en is aangestel as sieketrooster. Die amp se funksies was om siekes te vertroos, ter dood veroordeeldes vir hulle einde voorberei, preke te lees in die afwesigheid van `n predikant en onderwys in die plaaslike kerkskool gee. Adam Tas het na hierdie amp verwys as "`n krancke bedroever" a.g.v. die slegte naam wat hulle gehad het. Gedurende die ampstermyn van Ds Weerman lees ons niks van Wietse Botes nie en na e.g. se vertrek word hy opgevolg deur Ds Voltenen van 1750 tot 1755. Gedurende die ampstermyn van Ds Voltenen was daar klagtes oor die skoonhou van die kerk. Volgens Kerkraadsnotule 12 Maart 1753 word hy as Koster ontslaan en Nicolaas von Wielich word in sy plek aangestel as Koster. Botes het wel as Sieketrooster en Voorleser aangebly. Die aanstelling van von Wielich het nie `n einde gebring aan die spanning tussen Botes en die gemeente nie. Dit blyk dat Botes en von Wielich saam begin drank verkoop het. Dit het so erg geword dat daar selfs Sondae by die kerk drank te koop was. Dit was later so erg dat die ambagsmanne by die kerk nie in staat was om hulle werk te doen nie. Vir die Kerkraad en Ds Croeser was dit te veel en in 1766 word hulle verbied om drank op Sondae te verkoop. Hulle is later verbied om selfs drank verniet weg te gee. (Kerkraadsbesluit 11 Mei en 5 Oktober 1766.) Botes se loopbaan as Sieketroosteer eindig na 30 jaar in 1774 op sy eie versoek aangesien hy reeds 62 jaar oud is. Niks is verder van hom bekend nie. Sy pos word nie hervul nie en die amp van sieketrooster verval na `n aantal jare uit die Kerk. Hy sterwe in Swartland 21 Julie 1785.
