Jacobus DE WET was van Amsterdam (Nederland). Hy was die seun van Jacobus de Wet.

Jacobus was gebore Mei 1673. In Januarie 1693 het hy in die diens van die VOC getree. Hy kom by die Kaap aan in dieselfde jaar op die skip Nigtevegt. Hy was eers "provisioneel assistent" van Simon van der Stel; In 1696 word hy sekretaris van die "Hof van kleine zaken"; In 1701 boekhouer. In 1704 het hy "nplaas aan die Liesbeek gekoop. Hy word "n burger in 1708.

Uit "n onwettige verbintenis met Josina PRETORIUS, sy was gedoop 27 Oktober 1678 die dogter van Johannes Pretorius en Johanna Victor, is "n seun Jacobus Wilhelmus gebore.

Hy trou 13 April 1698 met Christina BERGH, die oudste kind van Oelof Bergh en Anna de Coningh. Anna se moeder was die slaavin Angela van Bengale, ook bekend as Mooij Ansela. Daar was 6 kinders uit hierdie huwelik.

Getroud met Helena BEKKERin 1723,(het 5 kinders), gebore 24.12.1701, gedoop 24.12.1701 in Paarl, sterwe in 1780. Dogter van Pieter BEKKER & Jeane DE CLERQ. Het 5 kinders.

2). Olof DE WET gebore in Kaapstad 15.11.1699, gedoop in Kaapstad 15.11.1699, sterwe in Stellenbosch 23.01.1763. Getroud met Maria SEGERS in

Stellenbosch 08.05.1735,(het 2 kinders), gebore 25.04.1700 gedoop 25.04.1700, sterwe in 1746. Dogter van Heinrich SEGERS & Helena VAN DER

WESTHUIZEN.

3). Anna Helena DE WET gebore in Kaapstad __.07.1702, gedoop 07.11.1702, sterwe op jong ouderdom.

4). Anna Helena DE WET gebore in Kaapstad __.08.1704, gedoop 27.08.1704, sterwe ook op jong ouderdom.

5). Jacoba Christina DE WET gebore in Kaapstad __.10.1706, gedoop 31.10.1706 in Kaapstad. Getroud in Kaapstad 17.12.1724 met Nicolaas LEY, seun van Michael LEY & Engela BREDA.

6). Johannes Carolus DE WET gebore __.03.1709 in Kaapstad, gedoop 10.03.1709 in Kaapstad, sterwe in 01.05.1748. Getroud in Kaapstad 26.09.1732 met Maria Magdalena BLANKENBERG, (het 10 kinders), dogter van Johannes BLANKENBERG & Catharina BAUMANN.

Jacobus de Wet is oorlede 1710/11.
