van Steenwerk naby Ryssel (Lille) was "n Franse Hugenoot wat in 1699 in SA aangekom het op die Donkervliet. Hy was toe "n wewenaar met 3 kinders uit sy tweede huwelik. Sy kinders uit sy eerste huwelik het in Europa gebly. Hy was "n boer in Drakenstein op die plaas Steenwerk, by Vier-en-twintig-riviere (Porterville) sedert 1720. Sy eerste huwelik was met Catherine l"HENRIETTE, by wie hy gehad het Jacob, Antonie en Marie wat in Europa gebly het. Sy tweede huwelik was met Maria de VILLIERS, en sy derde huwelik in 1700 met Francina de BEVERNAGE. Hy sterwe 1731. In SA het hy dus nog 3 seuns en 7dogters gehad.
