Notes about Thomas Andreas `Andries` Dreyer c1d1

In 1815 a historical episode took place:|At the Slagtersnek Rebellion in 1815, several farmers in the Eastern Cape were executed by hanging as having participated in that rebellion against British rule. The two Dreyer brothers Thomas Andreas and Christiaan Lourens were amongst the accused at the trial. Their sentences were, however, not harsh and they were acquitted. This happened during the rule of Governer Lord Charles Somerset.||It would be fair to suggest that this happening was influential in their ultimate decision to embark on their trek to the Transvaal and Orange Free State in the 1830's, in order to, inter-alia, escape British rule.||Maria Prinsloo was ’n suster van Hendrik Prinsloo wat by Slagtersnek tereggestel is.
