Notes about Berend Jans Drenth

Berend Jans Drenth vertrok uit Oude Pekela naar Muntendam en werd medewerker en inwonend bij scheepstimmerman Ubel Holthuis. Na het overlijden van Ubel Holthuis 5 augustus 1853 nam Berend Jans Drenth de werf over. Op 19 dec. 1853 is de publieke verkoop van een behuizing en scheepstimmerwerf te Muntendam, koper is Berend Jans Drenth voor de som van 4225 gulden. Hij huwde in 1859 met Reina Durenkamp en zij gingen wonen op de Middenweg nr.275 te Muntendam. Berend overleed 17-3-1875 plotseling bij de werf op het Oude Verlaat, vermoedelijk ten gevolge van een hartaanvalen zijn vrouw Reina vertrok reeds 24-3-1875 naar haar stiefvader Joannes ten Oever en haar zusters in Veendam. De scheepswerf werd overgenomen door Jan Kramer, scheepstimmerman, afkomstig uit Hoogezand. Deze Jan Kramer was medewerker en hij woonde naast Berend J.Drenth aan de Middenweg nr.275a . Inwonend bij het gezin kramer was scheepstimmerman Bernardus Fikkers, die 27-5-1875 huwde met Helena,dochter van Jan Kramer en daarna de werf weer van zijn schoonvader overnam.
