Notes about William McDONALD Luttrell

[doddimp.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 14, Ed. 1, Tree #0434, Date of Import: Apr 15, 2001] William McDonald Luttrell and Martha Frances Edwards William McDonald Luttrell was born in Dekalb County, Alabama, on August 31, 1854, to Robert Luttrell and Caroline McCloud. Martha Frances Edwards was born in 1856 in Tennessee, the daughter of James Alfred Edwards and Elizabeth S Whitley. William McDonald moved to Dent County, Missouri, with his family in about 1859 when he was about five years old. His mother died in about 1871, when he was about 17 years old. After her death his father married Laura Jane Baker Hazzel in 1872. Martha Frances had moved from Tennessee to Dent County with her family when she was also probably very young. She and William McDonald were married on May 23, 1875, in Dent County. All five of their children were born at Salem in Dent County: William Rodolphus Luttrell on February 18, 1876; Laura Luttrell, about 1877; Robert Alford Luttrell, on October 11, 1878; Myrtle, in October 1881; and Carolina (Carrie) Luttrell; in March 1884. William married Birdie Evelyn Johnson, Laura married first a Stinnett and then Mann Wilson, Robert married Viola Flanagin, Myrtle married Thomas Jefferson Barnes, and Carrie married Bert Wyrick. Martha Frances died on October 20, 1888, at the age of 32. If William and Martha moved to Arkansas in 1887 along with William's father Robert and his family then Martha would have died in Arkansas, possibly in Howard County. Robert and his family lived for a few years in Howard County near John Barclay Luttrell, Robert's brother, before a later move to Sevier County. After Martha's death William married Ellie, last name unknown, who had been a close friend of Martha's. They had five additional children, all born in Arkansas: Fred, born in June 1889; Arthur, born December 1892; Walter, born September 1895; and Fannie and Rosebud, both born after 1900. William and Ellie appear on the 1900 Sevier County census with five children, Myrtle, Carrie, Fred, Arthur, and Walter; two being Martha Frances' children and three Ellie's. Fannie and Rosebud had not yet been born. William was a farmer throughout his life. William McDonald Luttrell died June 2, 1926 in Gillham, Sevier County at the age of 81. His second wife Ella died in 1935, also in Gillham at the age of 65. Both are buried in the Gillham Cemetary.
