Notes about Johann Kneupper

[doddimp.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 14, Ed. 1, Tree #0434, Date of Import: Apr 15, 2001] Johann and Apolonia Kneupper Both Johann and Apolonia Kneupper were born in Holler Montebauer, Prussia, in 1826. Their parents are not known at the present time. Johann and Apolonia were married in Holler Montebauer. The oldest two of their nine children were born in Germany before the family immigrated to Texas: Anton Kneupper, born in 1849; and Peter Kneupper, born in January, 1852. After the family immigrated to Texas later in 1852, the other seven children were born: Katherine Kneupper, born in 1854; John Kneupper, born April 23, 1856, and later to marry Mina Schmidt; Christian Kneupper, born in 1859; Charles Kneupper, born in 1863; Josephine Kneupper, born in 1865; Mary Kneupper, born in 1869; and Margaret Kneupper, born in 1871. All of these children were born in New Braunfels in Comal County. The family maintained their Catholic faith after their immigration to Texas. Johann Kneupper became a naturalized citizen in the fall of 1858. On the 1880 census, John and Apolonia with their youngest four children are shown as farming in Blanco County. Johann Kneupper died in 1900 in Kendall County at the age of 74; Apolonia died in Kendall County in 1903 at the age of 77.
