Domnall mac Causantín, verengelste Donald II, krijgt de bijnaam dásachtach door de profetie van Berchán, wat betekent een gewelddadige waanzinnige. Domnall werd koning na de dood of de afzetting van Giric mac Dúngail, waarvan de datum meestal in 889 wordt geplaatst.
