      Te Oosthuizen kwam in de jongste Raadsvergadering het verzoek in om eervol ontslag van de secretaris-ontvanger, den heer A.C. Middelkoop; besloten werd dit te verleenen, waarna de voorzitter vier sollicitatiestukken voorlas; naar aanleiding daarvan ontspon zich het volgende debat:
      Voorz. Nu, mijne heeren, zal ik u artikel zooveel van de gemeentewet voorlezen....hij leest...
      B. en W. hebben op 't tweetal voor secretaris geplaatst C. Baas en C.Peters, en nu moeten we maar overgaan tot stemming.
      Een paar raadsleden mopperen tegen; ze willen eerst inlichtingen inwinnen, een der sollicitanten heeft examen gedaan als secretaris.
      Voorz. Inlichtingen, gekheid; we moeten stemmen, stemmen.
      Maar, waagde nog een der twee te mopperen, ik stel voor sollicitanten op te roepen.
      Voorz. Dat voorstel kan ik niet toelaten; stemmen, stemmen.
      Raadslid. Ik protesteer.
      Voorz. Stemmen, stemmen. (Er wordt gestemd)
      Raadslid. Maar Burgemeester, u stemt ook mee en 't geldt uw neef, uw zusters zoon!
      Voorz. Volgens art. zooveel van de wet mag dat, en hij leest 't bewuste artikel voor.
      De stemming is afgeloopen; neef is gekozen.
