Nadat Jan Bette gewesene Diaken90 uijt naam van de kerkenraat door den schoolmeester is
geciteerd geworden om op den 3 februarij zijnde sondag na middag na de tweede Predikatie te
compareren voor onse vergadering, zo is bevonden, dat hij dan niet verschenen is. Waar op den 17
februarij geresolveert is om hem andermaal en dat tegen aanstaande dinsdag smorgen ten 10
uuren, zijnde den 19 febr. door den schoolmeester te laten aanzeggen, van sich op dien tijd zig te
doen zien in onse vergadering,
Hierop is de kerkenraad den 19 Februari vergadert alle leden tegenwoordig uijtgenomen Jan de
Lindt Diaken nadat wij den Naam der Heere hadden aangeroepen so wierd men wederom gewaar
dat Jan Bette niet gekomen was, hierop is de schoolmeester Boekhouder binnengeroepen en hem
gevraagd wat Jan Bette tot hem gezegd hadde, hij hierop antwoorde, dat Jan Bette had gezegd en op
zijn commissie tot antwoord gegeven had dat N.B. als de Kerkenraad hem had te spreken, dat ze
dan aan zijn huijs moeste komen welk onbescheijde en aanstotelijk antwoord (daar men zo
dikmaals in onse huijsbesoeking als hij van onse komst niet wist, en zig hierom van huijs nietkon maken hem thuijs vindende hebben gesproken en onder ’t oog gebragt zijn nalatigheijd in
Gods huijs als aan de Tafel des Heere) van de broederen met de uijterste verwondering en
aandoening is gehoort en overwogen geworden, wat men hierin verder doen zoude, dog nog niets
besluijtende als dat men nog wat zoude hier mede wachten is de vergadering met dankzegging tot
God gescheijden.den 10 Maart zondags namiddags besloten de broederen dat men tegen onbescheijdenheijd niet
genoeg Christelijke bescheidenheijd kan oeffenen, hierom wierden gedeputeerd ten huijze van Jan
Betten twee ouderlingen Cornelis Bresijn en Jan J Maris om hem ’t onderhouden over ’t versuijm
van sijne Christelijke pligten, waarop de genoemde ouderlingen hun commissie hebbende uitgevoert
rapporteerden in onze Vergadering dat zij Jan Bette hebben thuijs gevonden en een wijltijds met
hem hebben gesproken endat hij heeft aangenomen beterschap en naarstiger te zullen te kerk
komen.
