Nicolaas was klerk van de gezworenen te Gilze, waarvoor hij op 3-6-1712 de "eedt van getrouwighijt" aflegde. In 1739 werd hij gezworen klerk (beheerder van de dorpsfinanciën) ter secretarie te Gilze.
In de Raadhuisstraat in Gilze stonden 2 boerderijen met brouwerij die al in 1698 worden genoemd. Beide brouwerijen hielden ook herberg. De eerste brouwerij, die gestaan heeft Raadhuisstraat nr. 22 was tot ongeveer 1750 eigendom van de familie Peeter Princen. Daarna werd deze overgenomen door Nicolaas.

Na de brand van 1762 in Gilze diende de weduwe van Nicolaas een rekest in bij de staten generaal voor een schadeuitkering van fl.2000,- voor het huis en fl.3500,- voor roerende goederen en fl.3000,- voor "huys, schuer en torfhoye" van haar zoon Gerardus en de weduwe van den Corput en fl.200,- voor roerende goederen van haar zoon Ferdinand.
Op 2 september 1717 werden bij Nicolaas en zijn broer Adriaan 2 jachthonden ontvreemd door ene Aart Weyburgh. In een proces te Gilze op 20 april 1718 werden zij door de wethouder van Gilze in het gelijk gesteld en de dader veroordeeld.
