Notes about Leendert Vogelaar

Tevens commandant van de brandweer op de Boompjesdijk en loco-burgemeester van Dinteloord.
De boerderij lag aan de Boompjesdijk, 5 km verwijderd van Dinteloord en heette "De Hoekenburg" en behoorde met nog dertien andere boerenhoeven tot het kroondomein. Het oezicht had de opzichter Willem de Boef, die ook aan de dijk woonde en met deze baan gedeeltelijk zijn brood verdiende. Boven hem stond de rentmeester, die in Breda woonde en die, behalve dit rentambt, ook dat van Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Kloosterzande en omgeving) en Noord-Beveland onder zijn beheer had. Boven al deze rentambten stond de administrateur die in Den Haag woonde.
Grootte van de boerderij: 40 ha in de Koningspolder aan de Boompjesdijk, de Drogendijk en de Stelleweg. In het algemeen goede, vruchtbare, niet te zware kleigrond. Menverbouwde suikerbieten, haver, gerst, tarwe en vlas en hield melk- en slachtvee. Men maakte gebruik van zware Belgische paarden.
