Deze zou, samen met Magnus Forteman, naar Rome getogen zijn, en, nevens hem en andere Friezen (700), in het jaar 809, die stad, welke tegen Karel oproerig geworden was en hem hare poorten niet wilde openen, hebben ingenomen. ter belooning daarvan veroorloofde de Keizer allen Friezen, die mede te Rome geweest waren, zijne Keizerlijke Adelaar ten halve in hun Wapen voeren, zoo als Goffe dan ook gedaan heeft , deelende hij zijn Schild in de lengte en plaatsende den halven Adelaar van fabel op eenveld van goud ter rechterzijde, welk voorbeeld altijd door alle Roordaas, van Tjummarrum, en door andere Friezen in het algemeen, is gevolgd worden.
