Chancey CORBIN, one of the oldest residents of Albany Twp., has been dangerously ill for several weeks.

1 May 1884Chauncey H. CORBIN died at his residence in Albany Twp. on Tuesday, April 22nd, aged 76 years. Funeral was held at the house on Thursday. Interment in the family Cemetery on the farm. He was born in Warran Twp., Bradford Co., in 1808, where he lived until 21 years old when he commenced teaching, which he followed for thirty consecutive years during the winter, farming summers. In 1830, he married Miss Violaty GAYLORD, of Wyalusing, who is still living. They resided the next ten years at Warren and Wyalusing. About 1844, he removed to the farm where he died in Albany. At that time, it was a wilderness with no roads and only here and there a clearing. It required two days for him to reach his destination after leaving Wyalusing, a distance of about ten miles, a sled and yoke of oxen being his means of conveying his goods through the forest. A family of 11 children were born to then, 7 sons and 4 daughters, 2 of the latter, Mrs. William D. HAVERLY, of Forks, and Mrs. Jessie R. MC CARTY, of Elkland, reside in our county.
