Benjamin Benedict, who died at his home on Canterbury Hill at 7:45 o'clock Wednesday morning, was born in Herkimer county 95 years ago the 19th of this month and had lived in the town of Rome for over 50 years. About 60 years ago he was married in the town of Lee to Ann Rose, who died four years ago at the age of 86 years. Two children survivie, Francis Benedict of Ridge Mills and Thomas Benedict, who resides at the homestead on Canterbury Hill. Mr. Benedict was a member of the M. E. Church at Lee. He had served the town as school collector. For a number of years he was engaged in the oil business in this city. The body will be taken to the home of the son at Ridge Mills.
