Notes about John Martin Corbin

Interview with Lavon CORBIN, Jesse's youngest daughter:
"John was a very handsome man. He had dark black hair, dark brown eyes and a dark swarthy complexion.

Family folklore:
It was questionable whether or not Jesse was the father, as his mother, Rosa Dean, was sleeping with two men at the time. The two men flipped a coin as to who would marry her and Jesse lost. However, he was built just like Jesse, with broad shoulders; therefore, the family felt Jesse was the biological father.

John was Jesse's favorite son. He spoiled him. He kept asking for gambling money. Jesse gave him $250.00, then another $250.00 and another $250.00. Jesse CORBIN supported his oldest son for two years. He was finally going broke supporting everyone that he had to tell him to get a job. John at one point took some poison and tried to kill himself. He was sick for a very long time; in and out of hospitals. John got married and had children and was a very good father. He did not spoil his children like he was spoiled by his dad.
*****
John CORBIN was Lulu CORBIN Tripp's Great-Grandfather, author of "The CORBIN Family".
John CORBIN was a farmer (near) Wadena, Iowa. He ran a "Sugar Bush," set out on an Apple Orchard. He also raised watermelon, ran a Lime Kiln and made sorghum. Sorgo is sweet watery juice thrown for syrup, fodder, or silage.)
