Was the owner of the plantation "Rhijnberk". Seems to have had connections with a plantation named "Berkhoven". Born ± 1765 in Paramaribo (code: JJG), died on 09-02-1822 in Paramaribo. Shipped in on 28-03-1778 in Paramaribo and went to Amsterdam (The Netherlands). This with his brother Nicolaas Martinus and under supervision of their future sister-in-law Johanna Geertruyda Beaules, who was accompanied by her slave Diana, a free negro Dorothea Seffart and Johann Herman Hambroek. His parents also arrived in 1778 or 1779 in Amsterdam, but returned in 1779.

Johanna was a so-called "redeemed mulatto" (a mulatto is a child of a white (man) and a negro). In Suriname was a lack of white women. Relationships between whites and redeemed mulattos or negros were common practice. Children from these "affairs" usually grew up in the family of the mother. Relationships between whites and slaves were officially prohibited, but occurred frequently.
