In de familie Warie was het de gewoonte een franse Maraine voor de kinderen in huis te nemen. Zij noemde Gigout Ambroise en was een magere niet gehuwde juffrouw die zeer streng was.Zij had ook een franse gewoonte om in soep koffie of chocolademelk haar brood te breken, waar mijn moeder zeer kwaad voor was als ik dit ook deed. Zij was afkomstig van een Parijse familie met meerdere ongehuwde dochters.
