Notes about Johann David Reinwald

1789 bei der Geburt des unehelichen Kindes "ein Mahler" genannt. Reinwald debütiert 1771 zum ersten Mal bei der Barzantischen Gesellschaft in Küstrin als "George Barnwell" im "Kaufmann von London", 1772-1774 in Stralsund, seit 17.4.1775 bei Döbbelin in Berlin, wo er als "Tripp" in "Die Kriegsgefangenen" debütierte. 5.12.1786-1.6.1811 (Pensionierung) am National-Theater in Berlin.
Reinwald spielte vorzugsweise komische Rollen und verstand es, sich mit denselben die Gunst des Berliner Publikums zu erringen, obgleich er wenig Abwechslung in seine Komik brachte und durch seine schnarrende Stimme oft unsympathisch wirkte."
"Hr. Johann David Reinwald, 1749 zu Berlin gebohren, ist ein anerkannter, vortrefflich komischer Schauspieler. Die Höchste nur erreichbare Einfachkeit sowohl in seinem Spiele, als in seiner Kleidung, befördern die Täuschung bis auf das Äußerste, und machen die Zuschauer oft ganz vergessen, daß sie sich im Schauspielhause befinden. Ohne also irgend durch Impromptus oder mittelmäßige Späschen gefallen zu wollen, ohne nur im Geringsten aus den Schranken eines gesitteten kunstverständigen Schauspielers zu treten, vergnügt er Kenner und Nichtkenner, und entlockt selbst jener Klasse von Menschen, die sonst nur durch Zweideutigkeiten ergötzt werden kann, lauten Beifall, und zieht sie so zu sich hinauf, statt daß andere Schauspieler sich zu ihr hinunter lassen."
