urk. 1030-1053, erhält 1030 v. Ks. Konrad II. zum Dank für treu geleistete Dienste die Wochenmarkts-, Münz- und Zollrechte bestätigt, die seinem Vater Aribo von Kaiser Otto III. für den Ort Donauwörth gewährt worden waren; sodann wurde ihm das Privileg eines dreitägigen Jahrmarkts verliehen. Als gesichert ist anzunehmen, dasser in den Jahren 1027/28 unter Bischof Werner von Straßburg an einer kaiserl. Gesandtschaft an den byzantin. Hof nach Konstantinopel teilnahm. Von dieser Reise brachte er eine Kreuzesreliquie mit nach Donauwörth, die, bis heute erhalten, in der Gruftkapelle der ehemaligen Klosterkirche Heilig-Kreuz ausgestellt wird. Die in eine rechteckige, metallbeschlagene Holztafel eingelegten zehn Partikel vom "wahren Kreuz Christi" zeigen die Form eines griech. Doppelkreuzes. Manegold nahm dieses Heiligtum zum Anlass, um zuerst eine Kapelle, dann ein kleines Frauenkloster auf Burg Mangoldstein zu stiften. Als erste Äbtissin wurde dort 1049 seine Tochter Gunderade eingesetzt.
