De Vierambachtspolder is een voorbeeld van een oude droogmakerij en wordt als landschappelijk waardevol beschouwd. In 1732 verzochten de ambachtsbesturen van Esselijkerwoude, Ter Aar, Oudshoorn en Rijnsaterwoude aan de Staten van Holland om goedkeuring tot de droogmaking en bedijking van het waterschapsgebied Vierambacht. Vandaar de naam "Vierambachtspolder". In 1744 viel de polder droog. De Vierambachtspolder ligt tussen Woubrugge, Rijnsaterwoude en Alphen aan den Rijn aan weerskanten van de N207. Bij de kruising van de N207 staat een monument ter herinnering aan het oude dorp Jacobswoude (voor het eerst genoemd in 823) dat door het afgraven van het veen voor turf is verdwenen.
