Willem Frederik is bij zijn geboorte aangegeven door zijn vader Marinus Johannes Koele dus ook Koele genaamd (zonder accent aigu), bij zijn huwelijk met Margaretha Helena Pennin en de overlijdensakte van hun doodgeboren kindje wordt zijn naam ook Koele geschreven evenals bij zijn overlijden.
Op alle overige akten beginnend bij zijn huwelijk met Adriana Johanna Godijn en bij alle kinderen die zij kregen wordt hij Koelé genaamd, die kinderen heten dus ook allemaal Koelé.
