Na de scheiding van Martinus' ouders (Hermanus de Wilt en Johanna Bouts) in 1920 zijn de 2 oudste zoons (Hermanus en Wilhelmus) en mogelijk ook Martinus bij kindertehuis 'Welkom' aan de Kortekade in Rotterdam ingeschreven. In juli 1922 zijn de 3 kinderen met hun vader en zijn tweede vrouw (Gijsbertha Tuinenburg) vertrokken naar de Aleidastraat 162 in Schiedam.
