Louise Derby Brown? |???Visit Guest BookGREENSBORO — Louise Derby Brown, 94 of 3560 Wildflower Dr. Apt 310, died May 24, 2011 at her residence.A Memorial Service will be held at Well Spring Retirement Center on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11 a.m.Louise, a Greensboro resident for 64 years, grew up in Fayetteville, NC and attended Meredith College. She was one of the youngest licensed female airplane pilots in the U.S. and the youngest pilot in N.C. when licensed at age 16. She flew many aircraft including Curtis Wright, Curtis Fledgling, Rearwin Junior, and Ford Tri-Motor. Her early interests also included motorcycling, music and painting.Louise was married for 61 years to "J.R." James Russell Brown, who died in 2000. She is survived by son, Rick Brown and wife Toddy of Stokesdale, son James Russell Brown, Jr. and wife Sandy of St. Paul, MN; brother Rodger Derby of Gig Harbor, WA; three grandchildren, Kenny Brown of Tampa, FL; Heather Wingate of Arlington, VA; Hilary Allegrucci of Lawrence, KS; and three great grandchildren.Thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Well Spring for their extra ordinary kindness and care shown to Louise.
