HUDIG, Johanna Clementina (geb. Groningen 27-3-1907 – gest. Amersfoort 29-7-1996), eerste vrouwelijke rechter in Nederland. Dochter van Joost Hudig (1880-1967), landbouwconsulent en hoogleraar, en Sophia Alida Hudig (1880-1924). Johanna Hudig bleef ongehuwd. -
(Han) Hudig was de oudste van vier kinderen. Haar jonge jaren stonden in het teken van de dood. Twee broertjes stierven allebei als kind, haar moeder overleed in 1924, en haar zus Liesbeth stierf tijdens haar studietijd, in 1930. Toch zou Han Hudig haar jeugd later als ‘harmonisch’ omschrijven (Hoefnagels, 156).
Na de dood van haar moeder nam Han, die net de meisjes-hbs in Groningen had afgerond, het huishouden op zich – haar zus Liesbeth had altijd als ‘de intellectueel’ van de twee dochters Hudig gegolden. Intussen had de Groningse psychiater Synco van Mesdag, een vriend van haar vader, Han geadviseerd om ook te gaan studeren. Om dat te bereiken deed ze staatsexamen gymnasium.
Johanna Hudig ging studeren in Utrecht en behaalde in 1934 de graad van meester in de rechten. Na haar afstuderen kreeg ze een onbetaalde baan aan het Criminologisch Instituut, dat net door W.P.J. Pompe was opgericht. Daar nam ze deel aan een onderzoek naar de omvang van criminaliteit in Utrecht voor en na de Eerste
