Pontbaas van het pontje naar het eiland.
Lange tijd was de enige verbinding met het Eiland het pontje van Schaap dat een regelmatige dienst had tussen Havenstraat, Vissershop, Prins Hendrikkade en het Eiland. Vooral in de zomer vervoerde het pontje veel zwemmers naar het zwembad op de kop van het Eiland. In 1959 werd de brug vanaf de Hogendijk naar het Eiland gebouwd en dat was het einde van het pontje. De firma Pont heeft in 1964 nog een kantoorpand op de noordkant neergezet. Eind jaren ’80 kwamen er plannen voor bestemming tot woongebied voor het Eiland. En dat is het.
